Specialist Areas – Professional Focus

I have been teaching for 35 years and have taught across the full primary age range, from EYFS to Year 6. During my career, I have worked in many Suffolk schools, as well as two schools in Hampshire, which has given me valuable experience of adapting to different environments, pupils, and ways of working.

I am a creative, enthusiastic, and experienced teacher, and I am extremely passionate about helping children learn and achieve their best. I have held a range of leadership roles, including Deputy Head, Key Stage 1 Lead, and EYFS Lead, which have helped me develop a strong understanding of teaching, learning, and supporting children at different stages of their education.

As a tutor, I aim to provide supportive, well-organised, and purposeful sessions in both English and maths. I believe it is important to set challenging but realistic goals, helping pupils build confidence while making steady progress. Having taught up to Year 6, I am also well placed to support children as they prepare for their SATs, helping them strengthen key skills, consolidate their understanding, and approach their learning with greater confidence.

I have strong behaviour management skills and understand the importance of creating a calm and encouraging learning environment. I believe that positive, respectful relationships between teacher and pupil are key to successful learning.

My conscientious approach means that I take care to assess pupils’ work thoroughly and provide constructive feedback that helps them understand how to improve.

I strive to deliver the very best for every pupil I work with, adapting my teaching to meet individual needs and helping children feel confident, motivated, and supported in their learning.
